Farmette, 2026
Farmette is a compact triangular dining table that brings growing and eating together in one piece. An 8.5-inch-diameter planter is integrated into the stainless-steel tabletop and fitted with a removable lid, making it possible to grow, harvest, and share microgreens from the same surface.
The project grew from Laura Niles’s experience growing microgreens in a loft apartment, where trays kept moving from surface to surface without finding a permanent place. Informed by compact living and multifunctional objects, Farmette is designed to fit into a corner and serve one or two people—offering an adaptable alternative to a conventional four-seat dining table. The piece was presented in Our Joy Is Resistance.
